Behaviour change for shared decision-making
Most healthcare organisations are working on integrating shared decision-making – collaborative decision-making between patient and physician - into everyday clinical practice. Using a health psychology perspective, we are interested in finding out a) which determinants are related to shared decision-making, and b) how to change these determinants, and ultimately improve shared decision-making. These can be individual determinants from patients and healthcare professionals, but also meso or macro level determinants. In addition, we are also interested in critical perspectives on shared decision-making, lived experiences of health, illness and agency, and other somewhat related subjects.
We have already collected interview data and consultation recordings, and are currently conducting a survey among patients in the radiotherapy setting. These could be used as starting point for your internship, but if you want to collect data elsewhere (and can get them to agree to this) or want to collect additional data at Maastro, this would be encouraged and supported.
