Marine Jacquemin

I am a PhD student researching the ethical, legal and societal implications of the use of data analytics in biomedicine. More specifically, I focus on the application of federated learning within the STRONG-AYA project. This project aims at improving adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer healthcare using this machine learning technique to develop new, valuable, actionable insights while being safer and more respectful of patient privacy than current alternatives. My work consists of both critically assessing the claims currently made about federated learning, but also to think of new ways in which its technical characteristics could facilitate more ethical and legal data processing.

Before I joined CDS, I got my BA in Law at the Haute Ecole de la Province de Liège and my MA in European Studies in Society, Science and Technology (ESST) at Maastricht University.
