Rutger van Mierlo
I am a Clinical Data Science researcher pursuing my PhD at Maastricht University. My research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence and digital health technologies to improve cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation.
Specifically, I work on developing and evaluating AI-driven clinical prediction models and personalized eCoach interventions to optimize cardiovascular risk management and patient engagement in (tele)rehabilitation.
Through the AIDAVA project, I explore the use of explainable AI and virtual assistants to support patient-centric health data curation and interoperability, empowering individuals to better understand and manage their own health information.
This research is conducted in collaboration with the Department of Cardiology and the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM), under the supervision of Dr. Laura Hochstenbach, Dr. Petros Kalendralis, Prof. Dr. Arnoud van ’t Hof, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Andre Dekker.
